Dear Susan: While I normally enjoy your irrreverant and insightful writing
you've really made a mistake with the publication of this article. Just
the second paragraph gave me a sick feeling: "down on your knees,
America, lick my muddy boots, sniff my soiled panties..they smell of dead
babies." Like some ugly carnical barker trying to spin Katrina into
a Dominatrix? That's your take on this tragedy? There's so much wrong
with this work that it needs to be recalled like a bad product. The whole
tone, the hipster flippancy, the incessant sexual terminology, the obligatory
light at the end of the tunnel all speak of immaturity. Susan, you're
better than this, aren't you? Please pull it. It's wholly wrong and disrespectful,
especially to the victims... Susan, I think you do have a big heart and
I know you are a genuinely good spirited woman. I just feel this wasn't
your best foot forward. You are so warm and intelligent, and that it's
good to be direct with those qualities sometimes. I feel this is a time
for you to be immediate, somber and piercing with your thoughts and feelings.
I won't belabor it, because I know your compassion is real and it shines
